Cabell 8th Graders Invited to Participate in Golden Horseshoe Competition

Golden Horseshoe Competition to test students’ knowledge of West Virginia history

Cabell County Schools will once again participate in the annual Golden Horseshoe competition this year. The test will be administered in two parts. The first part is an essay test to be given February 8, and the second is a multiple-choice test conducted February 20.  

All 8th graders with a passion for West Virginia culture and history are invited to enter the Golden Horseshoe competition. The winners will be announced by the West Virginia Department of Education later this year.  

There will be a minimum of two winners from every county (based on population) determined by highest scores. Practice tests and testing tips are available on the Department of Education’s official Golden Horseshoe website,
